Position Function: Provide appropriate veterinary care and regulatory compliance consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act, The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the Ag Guide. This includes but is not limited to implementation of the preventive health program, research support and consultation, disease surveillance and prevention, colony management, teaching, and weekend/holiday rotation. Salary Grade: 18 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide veterinary care for regulated animals at MSU. Minimum Qualifications: Education: DVM, Focus: Veterinary Medicine Preferred Qualifications: Three - five years of experience. ACLAM board certification or board eligibility will be considered. Demonstrated interest and success in performing research, and a desire to work in a research and teaching environment. Experience working with a wide range of species, including traditional laboratory animals, agricultural animals, fish and fowl. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Technical and professional knowledge and skills such as veterinary medicine and surgery, population management, infection control, and diagnostic procedures.
