Job Type/Schedule: This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location: This opportunity is in the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Basic Research, located on the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions: Research in the Norris lab focuses neural circuits controlling physiological and behaviorally relevant processes, such as sleep, respirations, temperature and stress, using a wide range of techniques to explore basic neuroscience questions. Opportunities are available to contribute to research projects, further develop lines of investigation, and/or lab management. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Salary Range: Base pay commensurate with experience. Department Summary: The Division of Basic Research (DBR) in the Department of Anesthesiology explores fundamental scientific questions relevant to medicine and Anesthesiology. DBR research falls into the categories of neurobiology, cell biology, and pharmacology with current projects focused on mechanisms of hypoxic and immune-mediated cell death, general anesthetic mechanisms, ion channel function, biomarkers of organ injury, novel intracellular signaling pathways, and the neurobiology of stress and addiction.
