Position Title: Research Technician 1, Pediatrics Posting Number: R2000181 Employer: Research Foundation Salary Range: $26,419 - $55,340 FTE: 1.00 Position Summary: The Huang/Slone laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a highly motivated research technician to study the molecular basis of genetic syndromes. The group studies a variety of genetic diseases, with the ultimate goals of developing treatments for said conditions while also translating the discoveries from rare diseases to more common conditions. They place a special emphasis on mitochondrial diseases (see Dr. Huang's faculty page for more details), which play a critical and often underappreciated role in a wide variety of disorders. Methodologies used include next generation sequencing to identify disease-causing mutations, and iPSC and mouse models to characterize the impact of these mutations using CRISPR/Cas9-based methods. SUNY Buffalo is the premier research institution in the State University of New York system, and as a member of this research community, the capable and motivated scientist will be well-positioned to produce high-impact research on critical issues in molecular genetics. Previous experience with laboratory animals, and particularly with mice, is preferred. Candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and must also be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
