![]() Junior or Assistant Specialist - Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology - School of Public Health Position: Junior or Assistant Specialist - Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology - School of Public Health Location: University of California, Berkeley, CA Salary: $44,500.00 - $57,800.00, commensurate with experience Targeted Start date: June 2021 or sooner The Wolf Lab in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology and the Center for Computational Biology in the School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Junior/Assistant Specialist, in the area of gut microbiome research. This position will support the newly established Wolf Lab by performing microbial culturing techniques and gnotobiotic animal husbandry. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic biologist with the ability to learn new techniques and troubleshoot experimental systems. The microbiota of the mammalian gut is a complex community of individual microbial strains shaped by diet, microbial competition, and the host. The Wolf lab studies the assembly and function of the gut microbiota in vitro (anaerobic culture) and in vivo (gnotobiotic mice). The Specialist position will support the lab's research in both model systems and interact with Ph.D. students and other trainees. Duties of Position include: Basic qualifications (required at time of application): Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) Preferred qualifications: This position reports to Professor Ashley Wolf. . The anticipated start date is between February and June 2021.
