Position Summary

The Division of Oncology is seeking a Technician A to work in a laboratory where the primary focus is on the discovery and development of small molecules for the treatment of blood related cancers. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing technical support to the research team.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the research staff including senior scientists and postdoctoral fellows.
• Perform cellular and molecular techniques including ELISA, histopathological staining techniques, RNA isolation, quantitative PCR, spectrophotometry and fluorometry. 
• Perform planned experiments and report results.
• Assist in performing murine xenograft experiments and become familiar with in vivo bioluminescent imaging.
• Assist with the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics plus one year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques
• Exemplary work ethic with attention to detail
• Ability to interact with multiple investigators and to work independently
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment
• Ability to keep accurate records of experimental results

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant laboratory experience
• Prior experience with immunohistochemical analysis including cryostat sectioning, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry skills

• Participation in the medical surveillance program
• Work with laboratory animals
• Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
• Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
