Animal Technician I (S02558P)

Job Summary: To provide animal husbandry for the animals in the facility. Essential Duties: Perform daily (some weekend and holiday work will be required) animal health checks and reports any abnormal animal conditions to the veterinary technician and facility manager. Change animal caging, to include feed and water, according to SOP's and/or specific approved protocols and the schedule established by the floor supervisor. Clean and sanitizes animal facility, equipment, and assigned rooms according to SOP's. Maintain daily animal census sheets, room equipment and status form sheets, and other forms requested by the facility manager. Maintain and repair animal caging and support equipment. Complete additional duties as assigned by the facility manager. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or the equivalent experience. Willingness to work in an animal research facility and provide superior customer service to research staff working in the facility. Ability to read and follow all SOP's and Quality Assurance Standards. High attention to detail with the ability to consistently complete respective tasks. Strong capacity for teamwork and collaboration. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the care of animals in a laboratory facility or certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. Knowledge and understanding along with the ability to meet and exceed the AWA, OLAW, and USDA guidelines.
