At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home to three Nobel laureates, interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists seek new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. Fred Hutchs pioneering work in bone marrow transplantation led to the development of immunotherapy, which harnesses the power of the immune system to treat cancer. An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nations first cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Womens Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. A full-time Research Technician I is needed in a laboratory within our Clinical Research Division that aims to comprehensively study human lung cancer in a translational cancer research laboratory. The selected applicant will assist other laboratory staff in the collection of various human samples,maintenance of the biorepository performance of experiments with these samples at the bench, routine laboratory maintenance, and specimen processing. Basic experience in the performance of PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, sequencing, developing cell and protein assays, cell culture, and handling of laboratory animals is essential. The technician works under the direction of two Principal Investigators or higher-level laboratory personnel. They use limited discretion and judgment in carrying out experiments.
BA/BS in a scientific field required. Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills. Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience is desired.
