The NASA CVO oversees KSC, JSC, Ames, and Flight IACUCs (for animal research on ISS) and develops policies, processes, and procedures to ensure ethical animal research as well as animal welfare according to federal regulations. This position supports the CVO and will:

• Provide professional and administrative support for Animal Policy Review Board (APRB) meetings (agendas, minutes, records keeping, etc.).
• Collaborate in the development and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for animal welfare assurance.
• Provide literature reviews at the request of the CVO on topics related to animal research and regulations / ethics surrounding animal research.
• Manage the CVO veterinary internship program.
• Provide support for virtual and face-to-face NASA Bioethics Advisory Panel meetings.
• Assist with development and maintenance of internal and external CVO websites.
• Maintain current knowledge in the field of animal research and IACUC administration through PRIMR, AALAS, OLAW, and other related webinars and training courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• This position will be CPIA eligible in 2 years.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in the field of science)
• 1-2 years of experience with animal research and/or animal research regulations
• Experience with coordination of programs, training, or monitoring to meet regulatory or policy requirements.
• Excels in task prioritization
• Displays autonomy in researching answers and providing solutions with recommendations
• Excellent customer service skills with a team approach

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3-4 years of experience with animal research and/or animal research regulations
