The University of Florida (UF) is seeking a qualified laboratory animal veterinarian to serve as a Clinical Veterinarian for the University's Animal Care & Use Program. The successful candidate will join six other laboratory animal veterinarians and approximately 140 support staff in a diverse and dynamic, AAALAC-accredited research institution which cares for a large variety of animals (dogs, cats, cattle, horses, mice, rats, rabbits, chickens, reptiles, guinea pigs, pigs, fish, frogs, etc.) housed in over 200,000 gross sq. ft. of laboratory animal facilities. UF is a major research institution with over $900 million in research per year. The Clinical Veterinarian is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position reporting to the Associate Director and Attending Veterinarian.

The position is multifaceted involving administrative, regulatory and veterinary activities. The Clinical Veterinarian will provide preventive and clinical veterinary care to all laboratory animal species, with an emphasis on rodents, at all UF animal facilities. These include facilities located in the Health Science Centers, IFAS (agriculture) and CLAS (Psychology and Zoology) on our main campus in Gainesville and other off-campus sites.  In addition, the Clinical Veterinarian is expected to contribute to developing policies and procedures pertaining to the program, participating in IACUC and regulatory inspections, reviewing IACUC protocols, serving as a member of the IACUC, and providing advice and consultation on federal, state and local rules and regulations pertaining to animal use.

Requirements: The successful candidate must be a graduate of an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine and have completed or be eligible to complete the ACLAM Board certification. Veterinary licensure or eligibility for Florida licensure is required.

This position requires excellent administrative, organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills, and must be licensed to practice in at least one state in the U.S.
