Serve as finance team member in the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine reporting to the ULAM Manager of Business Operations.
ULAM Financial Operations – 75%
- Makes appropriate alternatives to solve financial problems
- Prepares forecasts for ULAM recharge funds
- Maintains modeling of expenditures and makes recommendations on recharge rates
- Perform financial operations for the unit which include research administration, general fund accounting, financial transaction processing, and financial analysis and reporting
- Responsible for data analysis, trend reports and compilation of cost center data from multiple sources
- Revenue and Expense charts and summary activity metrics development and reporting
- Builds, maintains, completes, and updates ad hoc financial reports, provides analysis, projections and modeling of financial data
- Develops and runs queries using Business Objects in the Financial Data Warehouse to accumulate revenue and expenditure data, compiles reports and provides analysis of financial situations
- Analyze revenue and expense trends each month
- Works to improve accounting efficiencies through process improvements associated with financial reporting.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with numeric data, manipulate data representations (graphical, etc.), and translate data into concise summary documents with key points highlighted
Internal and External Customer Support – 15%
- Reconciles PI, external customer and recharge accounts.
- Generate estimates for ULAM work to external customers
- Generates monthly bills for external customers, track revenue and expenses to ensure timely collection of accounts payable.
- Tracks purchases, service charges and encumbrances
eRam database reporting, updates and maintenance – 10%
- Perform the monthly eRAM billing offsets and make sure they are billed correctly
- Update the monthly cost accounting report in eRam
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience using Excel
- Extremely detail oriented with the ability to recognize and investigate data anomalies
- Create reports and offer recommendations on accounting methods and procedures
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to build successful relationships with a wide variety of people at all levels in many departments
- Competence in running and creating Business Objects queries
- Sound organizational skills and the ability to successfully multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
