The Department of Comparative Pathobiology provides teaching in comparative biomedical sciences, pathology, and diagnostic and clinical sciences for the DVM program, conducts research in relevant areas, and provides anatomic and clinical pathology diagnostic support for internal and external clients.

The Kelley Simluation Laboratory Manager (KSLM) has overall responsibility for supporting, scheduling, and coordinating activites in the Joseph Kelley, DVM Simulation Laboratory, which is devoted primarily to small animals, and serves as the lead teaching technician for the clinical skills program.  This responsibility is carried out under the guidance of the Associate Dean, Academic Affairs and the clinical skills and other relevant course directors, and includes specifically supporting the small animal portion of the clinical skills program.   Responsibilities include scheduling, maintenance of simulators and equipment, ordering and maintaining adequate stocks of supplies, development of teaching materials including simulators and instructional videos, and student instruction. The KSLM is responsible for helping to develop, coordinate, record, and supervise assessments of hands-on skills of DVM students.  They participate in all aspects of teaching hands-on skills, using simulators, cadavers, and live animals, with cats, dogs, and exotic animals  and in the maintenance of relevant IACUC protocols and animal health records, as required. The KSLM works collaboratively with  Large Animal Teaching Technician, the Laboratory Animal Medicine Service (LAMS), Lerner Clinic staff, and the Clincal Sciences Teaching Technician to organize and oversee live animal experiences with cats, dogs, and exotic animals for courses, electives, and extracurricular clubs that occur in the Kelley Simulation Laboratory.  They are expected to assist will other teaching activities in the DVM program, as required from time to time.

Minimum Required Experience, Education, Background, And Certifications/Licenses
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years working with small animals
• Experience using MS Office
Additional Preferred Experience, Education, etc.
• Certified Veterinary Technician
• Teaching experience
• Experience producing instructional videos
• Familiarity with the learning management system Canvas
