Position Summary

This position assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experimental design, data analysis and documentation of experimental results.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Staff Scientist in a biology lab running a newly-funded, personal research portfolio within the Kummer lab at Washington University School of Medicine. We are a neuroscience laboratory focused on applying cutting-edge techniques to understand the mechanisms of acute brain injury, especially traumatic brain injury (TBI), and its connections to Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other forms of neurodegeneration. We are particularly interested in synaptic injury. We work with animal models (mostly mice) and with patients in the hospital, and collaborate with academic and industry partners ensuring a broad-based, growth-oriented experience and a large, diverse field of colleagues. The Kummer lab specializes in techniques including imaging, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, functional assessments, and immunolabeling.

Required Qualifications

Masterâ™s degree with four years of experience in research lab operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling nine years.

Salary Range

$46,100.00 - $83,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
