The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is seeing a Laboratory Technician Sr in Animal and Food Sciences. This position supports both the teaching and research components of this unit. Duties include, but not limited to: Food Science laboratory management and analysis of food samples or biological samples using analytical techniques in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. This may also require mastering basic cell culturing techniques and handling small laboratory animals. Perform literature searches and organize literature. Collect/process research data and organize in reports. Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, records, and cleanliness of general space. Train and assist lab personnel on lab methods and safety. This position also assists with food science course lab teaching. Position has some flexibility in work schedule. Other duties as requested or required.
Skills /Knowledge/Abilities:
Western blotting and other techniques in molecular biology, analytical chemistry, experience in using analytical equipment, practice experience with cell culture and small laboratory animals, protein extraction/purification/fractionation.
