BASIC SUMMARY: CBSET is seeking an energetic Clinical Veterinarian with knowledge and experience in routine care and veterinary treatment of various laboratory species. This role supports a swine breeding barn and research facilities for a multi-site, AAALAC accredited, USDA licensed, GLP-compliant contract research organization (CRO). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preventative medicine for all laboratory species including swine, sheep, rabbits and rodents
Routine and non-routine clinical veterinary care for a swine breeding facility as well as a multi-site research facility
Involved in training of technical staff (animal care, veterinary and research technicians)
Participate in surgical model development and implementation
Consultation/collaboration with scientists/study directors and participation in the IACUC process
Assist with oversight of controlled substance procurement and distribution
Ensure departmental compliance with local and federal regulations and guidelines
Assist with oversight of facility operations and maintenance for multiple sites
Perform all other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: DVM/VMD degree or equivalent
Experience: Experience in a preclinical laboratory environment strongly preferred
Minimum 1 yr experience in associated preclinical animal facility field
Certification/Licensure: ACLAM board certification or ACLAM board eligible preferred, MA Veterinary Licensure, NH Veterinary Licensure and driver’s license
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to perform laboratory procedure that require talking, hearing, standing or sitting for long periods of time, entering data into a computer, using appropriate instruments, reaching with the hands and arms, working in narrow spaces, and wearing safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations and company standards
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Research laboratory/medical environment, which requires use of sharp objects, working around mechanical parts, working with or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and biological hazards, exposure to fumes and airborne particles, working at a quiet to moderate noise levels
