Position Summary
The Columbia Center for Human Development (CCHD) is seeking two Technician B positions to support laboratory research under the supervision of the Principle Investigator. The technician will assist with a variety of basic/translational research projects studying intestinal stem cells and intestinal epithelial cell biology. They will assist with molecular biology and histology experiments under the supervision of graduate students or postdoctoral fellows in the lab. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and outstanding communication skills that allow them to work well with others in a team setting.
Responsibilities
Perform molecular biology techniques including cloning and generation of knock-in constructs and viral vectors.
Perform in vivo mouse injection, dosing, and manipulation.
Assist with tissue harvesting for histology and primary culture.
Perform genotyping and mouse colony maintenance.
Assist with histological analysis, immunostaining, and microscopy.
Perform RNA isolation, qPCR, and next-generation sequencing library preparation.
Perform Flow cytometry.
Assist with organoid generation and maintenance.
Assist with ordering lab supplies.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
Excellent organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Cell and tissue culture experience
Mouse genotyping experience
Familiarity and experience with the following laboratory techniques: PCR, histology, cell culture, and data analysis
Other Requirements
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
Participate in medical surveillance program
Work involves laboratory animals
Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
