Position Summary:
The University at Buffalo, department of Animal Facilities is seeking a Veterinarian. The incumbent will provide general oversight of veterinary care program, clinical care and management of research animals, health monitoring program, regulatory compliance with IACUC, AAALAC, OLAW and AWA and provide training and technical assistance to investigators.
The Veterinarian is responsible for:
Provide clinical care to lab animals
Manage the preventative animal health monitoring program
Management of veterinary services
Maintains regulatory compliance
Provide training and education for researchers
Oversee and develop safety guidelines for biohazards
Advise researchers with protocol development
Provide assistance to IACUC
Develop policies related to animal care
Collaborate with research projects
Oversee the management of controlled drugs and pharmacological supplies

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a DVM degree from an accredited school.
Must have a New York State Veterinary License.
3 years as a practicing veterinarian (private practice or academic setting with clinical responsibilities)
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience with multiple species of laboratory animals in a research institution including sheep and swine.
