Provide research compliance program administration and facility management with a primary focus on animal care and use. Through interpretation and application of research compliance rules and regulations, this position coordinates and prioritizes the maintenance and operations of university animal facilities.
Essential Functions:
Interprets regulatory rules and regulations, sponsor requirements, and university policies to guide and update the university’s animal care and use program and review processes. Performs preliminary reviews of animal use protocols submitted to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Serves as a liaison between researchers and IACUC to resolve review issues. Communicates professionally with the university community, other universities, federal agencies, and sponsors. Diligently handles sensitive and/or confidential information, documentation, communication, and issues. Developed written programs, procedures, and guidance pertaining to animal care and use. Conducts post approval monitoring to assess compliance. Primary facility manager coordinating animal monitoring, recordkeeping, facility scheduling, sanitation, and operational support of animal facilities. Conducts or assists with surgeries, procedures, breeding activities, euthanasia, and associated material handling and disposal. Conducts training for facility users and university community who may enter animal facilities. Coordinates facilities maintenance. Develops program, procedures, and guidance for facility and equipment operation and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 5 years experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations and animal care and use requirements. Ability to interpret rules, regulations, and policies for use in programs and processes. Ability to prioritize workload with a sharp attention to detail. Ability to manage concurrent projects.
