The Containment Research Specialist performs a variety of research and animal care duties, specifically for Biosafety Level (BSL) 2 and 3 labs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: daily care of research animals, facility management, colony management, management of supply and animal transport, performing all aspects of experiments, making deductions from data, analyzing and preparing findings and training new personnel in use of animal models as Laboratory Animal Coordinator. This position is also responsible for working in the presence of biohazardous pathogens, including infectious human pathogens. Emergency animal care duties are required during adverse weather and or/other emergency situations.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
