We have an exciting opportunity for an entry-level Research Technician to join our joint team within the Colleges of Pharmacy (Dr. Kari Hoyt, Division of Pharmaceutics & Pharmacology) and Medicine (Dr. Karl Obrietan, Department of Neuroscience) and participate in multiple NIH-funded preclinical studies focused on AD pathogenesis and the development of novel chronotherapeutic-based strategies to treat AD. As a Research Technician, you will conduct planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques; prepare solutions and cell culture media for scientific experiments; perform a variety of assays and experimental tests; collect, sort and process tissue and blood samples; record and consolidate research data; perform routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; assist with care of laboratory animals; assist with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigators; research current scientific literature on specified topics; assist with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment; calibrate various laboratory equipment and operate microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assist with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies. Required Education: A Bachelors degree in a biological/chemical/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 1 to 2 years of relevant experience required.
