As a recognized expert, applies comprehensive knowledge of laboratory procedures, protocols, and experimental design to lead the most complex projects that drive discovery. Supervises the development and execution of major or multi-disciplinary research projects or instructional and experiment design. Oversees the in vivo activities performed by laboratory staff of all levels.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and energetic laboratory animal science professional to join our successful Animal Care and Use Program at our UCSF-IND Animal Facility. We are looking for an individual that has a proven track record of excellence in animal research settings and has a proven ability to be a strong team member in a highly demanding and dynamic professional environment. This person will help our group best coordinate and execute all in-vivo drug discovery experiments, and this person will report directly to the Drug Discovery Research Manager in continuously refining and developing all drug discovery endeavors. There is the opportunity for someone in this person to train and directly supervise research associates and technicians. After proper training, this person will be expected to be able to perform all experimental procedures and techniques at the UCSF-IND Animal Facility.

The person in this position will work closely with the Drug Discovery Research Manager in reviewing and ensuing that experiments are properly executed according to all relevant protocols, standard operating procedures, and regulations. This person will also be responsible for creating and updating all records, documentation, protocols, and standard operating procedures as necessary. This person will have the opportunity to develop new techniques, refine procedures, report findings, and contribute to research direction and design. There will be an expectation of performing, training and mentoring in procedures.
