The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Technician A will provide support for research involving an iron transporter in the kidney that is found in the lysosomes. The job duties will involve the handling of transgenic mice, creation of new genetic mice, use of radioactive iron, in situ, and immunocytochemistry.
Responsibilities
Assist higher level technicians and researchers as directed.
Responsible for preparing materials for experiments, including solutions and cultures.
Perform simple experiments according to written protocols.
Responsible for keeping records in an orderly manner.
Assist in ordering and maintaining lab or clinical supplies.
Maintain lab notebook or records related to tasks.
Assist in the collection of blood samples, radioactive materials and wastes.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program
One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience
Other Requirements
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
Participation in the medical surveillance program
Ability to work with laboratory animals
Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
