About UC Blue Ash
The Veterinary Technology Department at the University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash College is now accepting applications for a full time Laboratory Associate position. The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio and one of the most diverse colleges at the University of Cincinnati. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. Job Overview
The Veterinary Technology Laboratory Associate will supervise and train students during laboratories while assisting the faculty with their teaching duties. This position will also have duties associated with animal care. This is a full-time professional staff position. The position is 40 hours per week Monday through Friday. Expected working hours may cover both day and evening to assist in teaching labs. Weekend on-call duties are occasionally required.
Essential Functions
Assisting students in laboratories that cover topics such as animal care and handling, anesthesia, surgery, radiology, clinical pathology, large animal, and dentistry.
Animal care duties consisting of weekly animal intake and release, record keeping, and assisting students with medical care.
Record keeping & regulation compliance.
Equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Off-site student supervision and off-site agency visits may also be required.
Participate in meetings and office work.
Perform related duties based on program need.
Required Education
Associate degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited school.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Registered as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Ohio (or be immediately eligible for registration once hired.)
Required Experience
One (1) year of clinical veterinary experience is required.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Bachelors-degree graduate from an AVMA-accredited school of veterinary technology.
Demonstrated recent, clinical experience working in small animal medicine, anesthesia, and assisting with routine surgical procedures including spay/neuter.
Registered in the state of Ohio (or be immediately eligible for registration once hired).
Three (3) years of clinical veterinary experience.
Experience in dentistry, diagnostic imaging, and working in the clinical laboratory.
Formal teaching experience
Experience with large animals and/or laboratory animals.
