Position Summary:
The UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) is Orange County's only state and federally funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. The Institute is composed of faculty and staff from multiple Departments and Schools, ranging from basic laboratory scientists to physician investigators, with a common goal of research discovery to improve the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and cure of age-related brain diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease. Led by the Vice Chancellor for Research and his senior leadership team, the Office of Research (OR) works with other campus units to foster an environment for research and artistic activity that facilitates the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in many forms to all levels of society. OR provides central campus administrative support for UCI's research programs. OR's core administrative units include Research Administration (RA), University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR), Administrative Operations and Research Program Services, Research Development, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor. Administration/Financial Operations/Research Programs provides administrative and network and computing support to OR's core administrative units as well as over 30 Organized Research Units and Special Research Programs that report to OR.
The centralized Sr. HR Generalist for Office of Research (OR), at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), acts as a key resource on all staff/academic personnel and payroll matters, providing analysis, guidance, and policy interpretation primarily for the UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) unit with a portion of time dedicated to other units in the (OR) Coordinating Point as needed. Uses professional HR/AP concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR/AP related issues. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors. The centralized Sr. HR Generalist interfaces with the the OR operations staff and serves as UCI MIND's point person on HR/AP related issues. Responsible for ensuring compliance with a variety of campus, state, and federal policies and procedures as well as collection bargaining contracts. This position reports to the OR Personnel Manager and provides support on all personnel matters. Serves as a Coordinating Point centralized UC Path initiator for all staff and academic employee actions for UCI MIND business unit employees and other OR units. Note: This is a hybrid position with the majority of work performed on site. Schedule to be determined based on organizational needs.

$73,894.32 - $133,694.64 (Annual Salary)
Required:
5-7 years of experience in personnel administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas. Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of UCPath, TRS, FastClass3, EEC, Cognos Reports and / or other related business software programs and systems. Demonstrated confidentially regarding personnel, payroll, and other matters. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with campus administrators, faculty, staff, and students from a variety of ethnic, social, and educational backgrounds.
