Position Summary:
Led by the Vice Chancellor for Research and his senior leadership team, the Office of Research (OR) works with other campus units to foster an environment for research and artistic activity that facilitates the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in many forms to all levels of society. OR provides central campus administrative support for UCI's research programs. OR's core administrative units include Research Administration (RA), University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR), Administrative Operations and Research Program Services, Research Development, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor. Administration/Financial Operations/Research Programs provides administrative and network and computing support to OR's core administrative units as well as over 30 Organized Research Units and Special Research Programs that report to OR.
Under general supervision, incumbent reports directly to the Finance Manager. Position will work in a team environment and will be responsible for recharge billing for multiple research units on campus. Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues related to purchasing, travel reimbursements, and fiscal transactions. Serve as purchasing officer for research units in support of the Office of Research's Central Services team. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and problem solving of various financial issues. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external. This is primarily a remote position. Infrequently, this position may need, or be required, to work on campus.

$29.26 - $51.29 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
1-2 years of financial experience
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team. Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Preferred:
Experience in managing a Corporate Card or similar. Knowledge of the University of California accounting system. Knowledge of University of California's purchasing and reimbursement forms and policies.
