BASIC FUNCTION:Maintain overall responsibility for the veterinary care and animal husbandry program of vertebrate animals at the University of Rhode Island and ancillary facilities. Provide direct and indirect consultation and support regarding the health and welfare of animals under the responsibility of the University in compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), The Animal Welfare Act, The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), The 8th Edition of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, The Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, AAALAC and other state and federal regulations
