The Animal Technical Support Technician 3 utilizes broad animal care knowledge and technical expertise to provide fee-for-service technical support for investigative groups under the direction of the Director of Training within the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledges (ERIK) Office of the Attending Veterinarian (OAV) and University Laboratory and Animal Resources (ULAR). Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to provide services such as colony management, agent administration, blood collection, and tissue collection. Works closely with the investigative staff for projects, managing study records and compiling data to be provided back to investigators. Tracks service provided hours and manages billing for services provided.
In addition, the Animal Technical Support Technician 3 will provide flexible support to the ULAR operations team across facilities according to operational need and depending upon technical support demands. This is a primary Technical Support Position with direct assignment of responsibilities from the Director of Training. Operational duties may include animal husbandry care as needed while adhering to SOPs, safety protocols, and biocontainment requirements. Operations support will be provided as needed in coordination with area Team Leaders to provide daily care of laboratory animals including feeding, watering, housing, and sanitizing enclosures as required by standard operating procedures for species. Other tasks include observing and reporting health conditions and maintaining record systems and inventory of animal via electronic systems; maintaining supplies and sanitation of animal housing and procedure areas; and operating large equipment such as rack washers, tunnel washers, and autoclaves.
Minimum Education Required: Associates Degree in Animal Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Minimum Qualifications: 2 years relevant work experience.
Desired Qualifications: 4-6 years relevant work experience.

This job opportunity is a technical-level position. The minimum starting rate is $22.00 and will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledges (ERIK) Office of the Attending Veterinarian (OAV) and University Laboratory and Animal Resources (ULAR) provides additional opportunities to eligible employees to earn extra income based on performance, completion of certifications, reliable attendance, and shift differential pay for weekend work.
