Assistant Professor of Medical Sciences (in Medicine) at CUMC - Hematology & Oncology
The Lentzsch Laboratory of the Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis Program at Columbia University in New York is seeking a self-motivated, creative, and experienced researcher for the position of Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate will be interested in developing and applying cutting-edge novel immunotherapy for AL amyloidosis and will work on new and ongoing research projects as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI) and collaborating PIs.
Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate should have a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree in biology or a related field by the start of the appointment.
Familiarity with standard biological laboratory techniques, especially human hematopoietic stem cell and macrophage culture, lentiviral transduction, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry staining, and animal studies is required. Expertise or previous experience in macrophage biology, humanized mice models, and antibody development are preferred.
The applicant should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, possess an exemplary work ethic, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.
The applicant is expected to work independently, have already obtained funding, and be proficient with standard software and data management files..
Other Requirements:
The selected candidate for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test before a final offer of employment is made.
Participation in the medical surveillance program, working with laboratory animals, potential bloodborne pathogen exposure and work with known infectious agents or biological toxins where prophylactic vaccination is available is also required. Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements is necessary.
