The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
A Technician B is needed to provide general research support in a lab focused on translational biology, specifically focusing on cardiometabolic traits such as lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, and metabolic syndrome. The research in the lab will span standard molecular biology techniques, protein and gene expression measurements, cell culture and in vitro experimentation, and animal model work.
Responsibilities
Organization and preparation of the research lab.
Setting up and calibrating equipment.
Carrying out fully planned experiments.
Preparation of solutions and common reagents.
Interpretation of data and keeping records of results.
Ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies, chemicals and equipment.
Managing animal colonies and performing animal work.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior lab experience with tissue culture and standard molecular biology techniques preferred. Candidates with extensive prior experience with animal models will receive preference.
Other Requirements
Applicant must be willing to work with live animals.
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.
