The Freimann Life Science Center (FLSC) at the University of Notre Dame is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician/Nurse to be an essential part of a team supporting cutting-edge research in biological sciences, chemistry, and biomolecular engineering.
What You'll Do:
As a Veterinary Technician/Nurse, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and welfare of laboratory animals while supporting researchers in their groundbreaking work. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing Expert Care: Administer treatment plans, perform technical procedures such as genotyping, anesthesia, and animal identification, and work closely with the Attending Veterinarian to monitor and report animal health.
Supporting Research Excellence: Collaborate with investigators to coordinate experimental procedures like injections and blood withdrawals, and assist in maintaining compliance with animal welfare regulations.
Daily Animal Husbandry: Maintain clean, safe environments for the animals, ensure proper feeding, and observe and record their health and behavior.
Staying Ahead of the Curve: Enhance your skills through ongoing training, continuing education, and cross-training in various facility areas to support team success.
Keeping Things Running Smoothly: Maintain accurate records in the animal management system and ensure supplies like gloves, gowns, and masks are always available.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school
7 or more years of relevant experience
AALAS certification is expected
Weekend rotating on call is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate of AVMA Veterinary Technology/Nursing program
