Job Overview:
Senior Scientist within our Medical Device team (San Diego) is a pivotal role which requires a dynamic professional with strong experience in serving as a Study Director as well as expertise in surgical studies. You will be overseeing study execution, preparing study reports and data analysis whilst serving as a technical expert in the medical device team.
Additional tasks:
Responsible for study execution and compliance as well as protocol development, design and reporting of exploratory, non-GLP, and GLP in vivo studies.
Oversee and/or provide support for surgical studies, including pre-operative procedures (catheter placement, intubation, etc.), intra-operative anaesthesia and monitoring, postoperative monitoring and evaluations, and supportive imaging (i.e. ICE, TTE, TEE, C-arm).
Write or revise SOPs to ensure facility compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards for surgical studies, animal care, and welfare.
Provide support for IACUC activities, including protocol writing and review, program review, and facility inspections.
Ensure facility compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and standards related to animal care and use (e.g., USDA, FDA, ISO, and AAALAC)
Assist the Attending Veterinarian in managing the clinical care of animals in the vivarium as needed.
Engage with clients, understand their requirements, provide expert advice, and offer tailored solutions.
Deploy in-depth knowledge and expertise in the respective service category to provide scientific support, planning, coordination, and execution of projects within the Service Line.
Assist in the training of PLSS research staff, continually refining and adopting new best practices.
Additional tasks:
We're seeking individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Graduate Degree in a scientific discipline with education in veterinary medicine or lab animal research.
3-6 years experience as a study director with a background in large animal (in vivo) research conducting surgical procedures.
Strong background in medical device research, including experience with imaging modalities like X-ray, ultrasound (CRM, TTE, TEE, C-arm, ICE), and anaesthesia.
Experience working in a GLP lab preferably in a CRO environment.
Ability to build collaborative relationships, strong work ethic, self motivation and ability to adapt in a dynamic team environment.
