To provide animal husbandry for the humane care and treatment of all research animals in the central UT Arlington Animal Care Facility and remote satellite facilities.
Essential Duties:
Perform daily (some weekend and holiday work will be required) animal health checks and report any abnormal animal conditions to the veterinary technician and facility manager
Change animal caging, to include feed and water, according to SOP's and/or specific approved protocols and the schedule established by the floor supervisor
Clean and sanitizes animal facility, equipment, and assigned rooms according to SOP's
Maintain daily animal census sheets, room equipment and status form sheets, and other forms requested by the facility manager
Complete additional duties as assigned by the facility manager.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the care of animals in a laboratory facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of, along with the ability to meet and exceed, the AWA, OLAW, and USDA guidelines. Willingness to work in an animal research facility and provide superior customer service to research staff working in the facility.
Ability to read and follow all SOP's and Quality Assurance Standards.
High attention to detail. Ability to consistently complete respective tasks.
Solid capacity for teamwork and collaboration.
Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period.
